HSE Director
Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC)

Until very recently, Abdulla Al Marzooqi was the HSE Director for the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). With a wealth of experience spanning nearly 40 years, Abdulla has extensive operational experience in the integrated Oil and Gas Sector and is a highly respected HSE expert in the field. He has great hands on experience and has developed and built the systems within the ADNOC Group where he has had several postings and has been mainly involved in HSE for the past 25 years.

Graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Production and Operations Management and Associate Degree in Electronic Engineering. Having worked at Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) as Senior Vice President ADNOC Group HSE and have over 40 years of rich work experience in several areas of Oil and Gas Industries, Upstream, Downstream, Sales & Retail (Seismic, Exploration and Production Operation, Gas Processing, Drilling, Oil storage and export Terminal, Projects, Strategic Business Planning & Support, HSE, Emergency & Crisis Management, Enterprise Risk Management, Business Continuity and security).

Abdulla was also a key member of ADNOC Executive Leadership Team and decision maker at Corporate Level. He was responsible for development of entire ADNOC and Group Operating Companies HSE framework, governance, HSE Policy, HSEMS, HSE Codes of Practice, HSE Systems, standards and Procedures, etc. and responsible for development of ADNOC and Group Operating Companies Enterprise Risk Management, Business Continuity and Security.

He was a member of various high level HSE & People Development Steering Committees/Forums, mainly ADNOC Group Operating Companies & GCC Oil & Gas Companies HSE Steering Committee, ADNOC Group Risk Management Committee and Rabdan academy. Abdulla was heavily involved in the development of the Competency Assurance Management System (CAMS) at ADNOC and developing their HSE competencies. He was involved in several 100 interviews in his career and was involved with helping in the technical inputs to the Petroleum Institute’s diploma and graduate programs for the ADNOC Group.

He has also served as a Chairman of SPE HSE international Conference(s), First Sustainability conference in UAE, Process Safety conference and Exhibitions, Chairman of International Society of Automation conference Envirospill conference, ADIPEC HSE programs, IOSH, MEOS, and have presented several technical and managerial papers on HSE, Business Continuity, Crisis and Risk Management, Security in both National and International forums.

He also served two years as a Chairman of Regional Clean Sea Organization (RECSO) prior to retiring from ADNOC. He was responsible in ensuring that all ADNOC related HSE Policies, systems, and Standards are effectively implemented across ADNOC and Group Operating Companies.
