Founded in 1740, Wellpark Brewery in Glasgow is responsible for brewing Tennent’s Lager, the most popular beverage of the kind in Scotland and exported to over 40 countries around the world. In 2003, the leadership team took steps to address the sharp rise in workplace injuries that had been observed over preceding years.

SafeStart at Tennents Brewery

Each employee, from manufacturing to upper management, was put through SafeStart, the programme providing a fresh perspective on safety awareness and producing a safer behavioural culture. These straightforward lessons had a remarkable outcome, with the site seeing lost-time accidents fall from 13 to three within a year.
